Terms of service

Last updated 10 October 2026 · 6 min read

The short version

  • Anodos is for practising the school subjects it covers. Today it’s free.
  • Use it for your own learning, and be fair to everyone else who uses it.
  • Anodos helps you practise. It doesn’t replace your teacher or your course, and it isn’t connected to the SQA.
  • You can stop using Anodos whenever you like, and delete a saved account in the app.
  • If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app first.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Kraken Digital Services, 5 South Gyle Crescent Lane, Edinburgh, EH12 9EG, who runs Anodos. They cover this website and the Anodos app. The app also shows its own Terms of use (Profile, then Help); until the app shows this page’s text instead, those apply inside the app if the two ever differ. By using Anodos, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Anodos.

Our privacy policy explains what information we keep about you and why. It is part of these terms.

If anything here is unclear, ask a parent, carer or teacher, or email us at privacy@krakendigital.it.

2. Who can use Anodos

Anodos is for pupils in Scotland studying the courses it covers, and for the parents, carers and teachers who support them. Anyone else is welcome to practise too.

You need to be 13 or over to use Anodos. If you are under 16, we’d like a parent or carer to read these terms with you.

Teachers who write questions use a separate portal that we invite them to.

3. Your account

You can use Anodos as a guest, without telling us your name or email. A guest account lives on one phone or tablet: if you delete the app or lose the device, your progress goes with it.

You can create an account (in Profile, under Save your climb) with your first name and an email address and password, or with Apple or Google. Then your answers, streak, XP and settings are saved with your account and come back when you log in on another device. For now, your mastery and the waypoints you’ve unlocked stay on the phone you earned them on. If you create an account:

  • keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account
  • use an email address you can get into, so you can reset your password
  • give us your own first name or a nickname, not someone else’s name

You can delete your account in the app (Profile, then Delete account). We wait 7 days in case you change your mind, then delete it. Deleting your information explains what happens.

4. Using Anodos fairly

Please don’t:

  • try to break, overload or get round the security of Anodos, or use it with anything other than the real Anodos app
  • copy the questions, lessons or notes to share or sell, or use them to build something else
  • pretend to be someone else, or let someone else use your account
  • put personal details, yours or anyone else’s, in a problem report
  • use Anodos in a way that breaks the law or harms anyone

If someone breaks these terms, we may pause or close their account. We will tell them why, unless the law says we can’t.

5. Questions, lessons and problem reports

Teachers write and check every question, but mistakes happen. If you think a question is wrong, use Report a problem in the app, or tell your teacher. A report goes to the teachers who look after that course so they can fix the question. They don’t see who sent it.

Anodos is a way to practise. It isn’t a course, a textbook or a tutor, and doing well in it doesn’t guarantee any exam result. Anodos is not made by, or connected to, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

6. What belongs to whom

The questions, lessons, pictures, the Anodos name and logo, and the app itself belong to us or to the teachers who wrote them. You can use them to learn, for yourself, for as long as these terms allow. You can’t copy, sell or republish them.

Your answers and your progress are information about you. The privacy policy explains what we do with them, and you can ask for a copy or ask us to delete them at any time.

7. Paying for Anodos

Today everything in Anodos is free. If we add paid courses or features, a parent or carer will buy them through the App Store or Google Play, and we’ll update these terms and tell you in the app before anything costs money. We will never show adverts.

8. Keeping Anodos running

We work hard to keep Anodos available and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always work, or that it will be free from mistakes. We may change, add to or stop parts of Anodos. If we stop Anodos altogether, we’ll give you notice in the app so you can ask for a copy of your information first.

9. Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms, or don’t take reasonable care, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer as a direct result. We are not responsible for things we couldn’t reasonably have expected, for an exam result, or for problems caused by your device, your internet connection or something done against these terms.

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have by law, including your rights as a consumer.

10. Ending this agreement

You can stop using Anodos at any time. Delete a saved account in the app, or contact us and we’ll remove your information, as the privacy policy explains.

We may close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop running Anodos. We won’t delete a saved account for any other reason without telling you first.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and if you don’t agree you can stop using Anodos.

12. Which law applies

These terms are governed by Scots law, and the Scottish courts can deal with any dispute about them. If you live outside Scotland, you can also rely on the consumer laws of where you live and bring a claim in your local courts.

Questions about these terms?

Email privacy@krakendigital.it. A parent, carer or teacher can also write to us for you.
